Active eye infections or conditions like conjunctivitis can increase the risk of complications. People who are prone to keloid scarring may want to avoid permanent makeup, or get it at their own risk. Although rare, people with allergies to makeup or ink may not be good candidates. People with heart conditions may be at a higher risk of infection and excessive bleeding due to medications that thin the blood. Taking steroids, Accutane, or Retinol products may also be contraindication
Microdermabrasion may not be suitable for people with certain skin conditions or other factors. Skin conditions such as active acne, rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, lupus, keratosis, bleeding disorders, open sores, sunburn, heat rash, and skin prone to keloids. Viral infections like warts, herpes, molluscum contagiosum, impetigo, and chicken pox, as well as bacterial and fungal infections. Cuts, abrasions, bruising, swelling, recent fractures, pregnancy, laser resurfacing, medium or deep skin peels, and taking certain medications like Retin-A, Roaccutane, or oral blood thinners are not eligible for treatment.
